The kidnapping of beer magnate Freddy Heineken was one of Europe's most highly-publicized crimes when it occurred in November of 1983. Systematically planned out by a group of amateur street thugs, the story would bring the Netherlands-based Heineken company into the world spotlight and set in motion a chain of events that transformed a novice young crook into a master criminal. The Netherlands' most beloved acting talent, the legendary Rutger Hauer, plays Freddy Heineken, a man who has turned his family brewing company into a multi-million dollar empire. Reinout Scholten van Aschat is Rem, a petty criminal at the end of his rope, burdened by an alcoholic father who once worked for Heineken.
